Attack of the Shark Crafts {Movie Monday}

Last Updated on August 2, 2017 by lydiaf1963

The bloggers at Movie Monday have chosen the one movie that has defined Summer since the 1970s…Jaws. Both the book and the movie were terrifying when they first came out…the music, the suspense, the HUGE shark! It’s no wonder the entire series of movies is replayed on cable every year. There are over 400 species of sharks in the world, each fascinating in their own way. Shark motifs are used in decor, on clothing and accessories, party themes and more. Take a look at the collection of shark crafts below. You’re sure to find something to sink your teeth into!

Let’s have a cocktail before we browse the crafts

There are different variations but I made the Shark Bite Cocktail found at My Incredible Recipes. It has a great color and a fun summery taste.
For one serving:
In an ice filled cocktail shaker mix 1 1/2 ounces Malibu Rum, 1 1/2 ounces Blue Curacao and 1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice. Shake for 30 seconds.
Pour into an ice filled glass about halfway and top with a couple ounces of lemon-lime soda and the juice of half a lime. Stir.
Add a half tablespoon grenadine last to simulate blood in the water. Garnish with a slice of lime and serve.

For a nonalcoholic drink: Fill your glass with ice and mix your favorite blue soft drink with some lemon-lime soda. Then add the grenadine. Garnish with a slice of lime.

What do you mean you haven’t seen Jaws?

Jaws was one of the first Summer blockbuster movies and led to three sequels, a marketing scheme that has become commonplace nowadays. It tells the story of what happened in a sleepy seaside community dependent on the tourist trade after a badly mauled body washes up on the beach. The movie was one of the first directed by Stephen Spielberg and he was already adept at building suspense. When I heard the shark’s theme music I distinctly remember hiding my eyes and watching the movie through my fingers. You can stream the first (and best) movie through Amazon. The book itself has a lot to offer with an in depth examination of the forces of politics and public safety that are unleashed on Amity Island after the first attack. It’s available on Kindle.
