I have sunglasses, but a hat is better at keeping the sun out of my eyes plus I don’t have to switch back and forth from my prescription sunglasses to my bifocals if I’m trying to read or knit outdoors. I have a couple of hats I like to wear for hiking, but they aren’t very fashionable. I finally broke down and bought a plain straw hat.

It did the job, but it was too big for my head. Plus the black band was pretty boring.

I decided to give my hat a new look. All it took was a meter of ribbon, glue, some thin elastic cord and a cord lock. (affiliate links)

First I removed the old ribbon and measured the elastic around the base of the hat. Taking care not to sew through the cord itself, I took a few stitches around the brim to help hold the cord in place. Then I threaded the cord through the cord lock and cut off the excess. After measuring the ribbon, I glued it into place which was trickier than I thought it would be. A styrofoam head and a few pins might have helped. Plain old white glue gave me the best results. Once the glue dried, I was ready to make the rounds without worrying about my hat blowing off.

I’m almost finished my latest project. I decided to do an I-Cord bind off and am playing yarn chicken. Hopefully I have enough yarn left. I’ll talk more about the afghan in a separate post.

And now…this week’s Featured Post!

Upcycled Summer Shorts ~ Creatively Crafty Feature

I love how Teresa gave these jeans a second life as shorts with just a few embellishments. Isn’t the elephant adorable? Jump over to Keeping It Real to see how she did it.

Let’s move on to the round up. Do you have anything creative you’d like to share? We’d love to see it. Browsing through the projects is a pleasant part of my week!

Thank You for sharing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party, and pin our favorites. With so many bloggers participating that means more exposure for YOU! Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff.

The weekly features will also be promoted on social media with all features pinned to the Creative Craft Bloggers group board on Pinterest!

There are just a few simple rules:

-Link to a specific post, not your home page.
-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
-Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
-Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.

Please do not pin from these thumbnails. If there’s a post you want to pin please click on the link title to visit the source and pin from their blog.

Not a blogger? No problem! Anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can link to a photo of your completed masterpiece or work in progress.

Could you do us a favor and share the party on Twitter before linking up?

If you’re a Craft Blogger and would like to join the Creative Craft Bloggers Group, fill out this form and join us! In addition to the weekly link party, we also have a monthly themed challenge plus we support each other on social media.

Thanks for sharing your project with us! Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing posts on various social media channels during the week. We’re growing and that’s a good thing, although as the party gets larger it will be more difficult for me to visit and comment on every link. So I’m counting on you guys to help out. Please try to find time to visit a link or two yourself and congratulate your fellow crafters on a job well done!
