Welcome to the Creatively Crafty Link Party hosted by the Creative Crafters Blogging Group! You’ve worked hard on your project, and it looks great! Share it with us and get the kudos you deserve! Any and all creative endeavors are welcome…crafts, original writing, recipes, DIY tutorials, you name it!
Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. This is my favorite church season. It’s a time of prayer and fasting, true, but it’s also a time of renewal. If you belong to a faith tradition which celebrates Lent, you’re accustomed to “giving something up.” Sundays are feast days and exempted from fasting but in the past I’ve abstained from alcohol and meat. This year I think I might do something different. This meme came across my Facebook feed and it tickled an idea I’ve had for awhile.
I’ve grown weary of the corrosive atmosphere on social media– in particular Facebook– and I think it may be time for a social media fast. I deleted the Facebook app from my phone a couple months ago…it’s a real battery hog! I don’t miss it.
Many people on my friends list were from high school and college. They revealed themselves during the election cycle and I questioned why I cared about the opinions of people I haven’t seen in over 20 (okay 30) years. I never felt the need to jump into an acrimonious discussion but the constant barrage of unpleasantness is disquieting. The people with whom I truly desire to have contact can be reached using other means (and vice versa).
I installed the page manager app so I can share cool craft stuff to Life Beyond the Kitchen’s page. As a blogger, it’s kind of hard to do my thing without social media, but I don’t have to read Facebook’s news feed to do it. I think a social media fast would address the issues brought up in the image above. We’ll see!
Here’s this week’s featured post!
Teresa from Keeping It Real has a great tutorial to demonstrate how to add a zipper to a pullover sweatshirt. She makes it look so simple and it’s one of those things people could do for themselves if they only knew how.
On to the party!
Do you have anything creative you’d like to share? We’d love to see it. Browsing through the projects is a pleasant part of my week! Thank You for sharing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party, and pin our favorites. With so many bloggers participating that means more exposure for YOU! Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff. Check them out here:
Thanks for sharing your project with us! Keep an eye out as we’ll be sharing posts on various social media channels during the week. We’re growing and that’s a good thing, although as the party gets larger it will be more difficult for me to visit and comment on every link. So I’m counting on you guys to help out. Please try to find time to visit a link or two yourself and congratulate your fellow crafters on a job well done!
There are just a few simple rules:
-Link to a specific post, not your home page.
-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
-Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
-Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
Please do not pin from these thumbnails. If there’s a post you want to pin please click on the link title to visit the source and pin from their blog. Not a blogger? No problem! Anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can link to a photo of your completed masterpiece or work in progress. Could you do us a favor and share the party on Twitter before linking up?
