Creatively Crafty Link Party #7

Last Updated on March 29, 2016 by lydiaf1963

Hello you creative people! Welcome to Week 6 of the Creatively Crafty Link Party hosted by the Creative Crafters Blogging Group! You’ve worked hard on your project, and it looks great! Share it with us and get the kudos you deserve! Crafts, Home Decor, Original Writing and Recipes are all welcome.

Trillian Shawl, unblocked ~ Life Beyond the KitchenLast week I mentioned I finally finished and blocked my Trillian shawl. It was made with a hand dyed, lace weight Merino wool that I purchased a few years ago and was too intimidated to work with because it’s so fine. Now I’m not sure what I was worried about, because it doesn’t get much easier than garter stitch! The most difficult part was blocking it and keeping the cats off of it. I was worried about the lace border– you can see in the photo how the cast off edge is puckered– but once washed and blocked the edges opened right up. The final result is a squishy, light weight wrap that’s just long enough to cover your chest and shoulders. Scroll down to the link party to see it modeled by the recipient, my sister, Laura.

First things first…the Featured Post!

My idea of a tablescape is to use napkins and I wonder about people who leave their tables set all the time (I suppose it’s better than a perpetual pile of laundry, hahaha). But I’ll admit it’s fun to browse places like Pier One, IKEA and upscale department stores to see the beautiful dinnerware and cutlery available. I’m particularly in awe of people who can pull together a thematic look with various items in their homes, like this Spring Tablesetting with Birds from Grandparentsplus. The pressed glass plates are gorgeous as are the embroidered napkins. You’ll want to click through to see all the little vignettes Phyllis was able to create on her table.

-Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
