Spend more than a few days in Spain and you’ll soon learn the rhythm of the day is dictated by the “siesta”; that period in the afternoon when many shops close and the Spanish enjoy their largest meal and perhaps a short nap. In reality there are two siestas; one for the shops from about 2 – 5pm and another for bars and restaurants from 4:30 – 8pm. The actual times will vary, but it makes sense because many people dine out instead of going home to eat.
It’s an unfortunate fact of life that stuff gets dirty but it doesn’t have to be a chore to clean it up when you lose yourself in music and memories.
My phone loves to be taken for a walk. There’s an app that tracks my steps on my Galaxy phone. It not only tracks my steps, it tells me when I walk at a “good pace” and also urges me to get off my rump when I haven’t moved my phone in a while. The best part is it gives me a sticker when I reach my goal of 10,000 steps.
Now, apparently the idea of ten thousand steps is actually a marketing catch phrase for a Japanese pedometer, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a worthwhile goal.
GIMP is a free graphics program with similar functionality to Photoshop and other graphics programs you have to pay to use. I’ve decided to figure out how to create a seamless blog background with GIMP. Turns out, it’s easy!
When I first started blogging I wrestled with Photoshop until PicMonkey came around. PicMonkey is awesome for creating blog graphics, but there are some things it doesn’t do as well as more advanced graphics programs can. And since Photoshop and I have a love/hate relationship, I figured it was worth taking the time to learn GIMP– an open source (free) program that’s available to everyone who can download it.
